What you’ll learn:

This course explores classical and modern physics, divided into thirteen core units:

  • Working as a Physicist – Measurement, experimentation, and atomic structure
  • Mechanics – Forces, motion, and Newtonian physics
  • Electric Circuits – Resistance, capacitance, and electrical energy
  • Materials – Properties of solids, liquids, and gases
  • Waves & Light – Electromagnetic spectrum, wave-particle duality
  • Further Mechanics & Oscillations – Simple harmonic motion and resonance
  • Electric & Magnetic Fields – Induction, electromagnetism, and applications
  • Nuclear & Particle Physics – Radioactivity, fission, and fusion
  • Thermodynamics – Heat transfer, entropy, and energy efficiency
  • Space Physics – Celestial mechanics, orbits, and astrophysics
  • Nuclear Radiation – Half-life, decay equations, and safety measures
  • Gravitational Fields – Planetary motion, black holes, and relativity
  • Exam Preparation – Practice exercises, assessment strategies, and revision techniques
How you’ll study:

Assessment:

Students will complete three written exams:

  • Paper 1: Advanced Physics I – 1 hour 45 minutes, 30% of A-Level
  • Paper 2: Advanced Physics II – 1 hour 45 minutes, 30% of A-Level
  • Paper 3: General and Practical Principles – 2 hours 30 minutes, 40% of A-Level

We provide a guaranteed exam space at one of our partner centres across the UK.

Optional Practical Endorsement:
Students can complete 12 practical activities in a lab-based setting to receive an additional Practical Endorsement certification. This is not required for the A-Level grade, but it is recommended for students aiming for STEM degrees.
