What you’ll learn:

This course explores philosophy, ethics, and Christian thought, divided into eleven key units:

  • Ancient Philosophy – Plato, Aristotle, the Prime Mover, and dualism
  • Arguments for the Existence of God – The Ontological, Cosmological, and Teleological arguments
  • Religious Language – Theories on how language shapes religious beliefs
  • Christian & Secular Ethics – Normative ethics, applied ethics, and ethical theories
  • Meta Ethics & Conscience – Examining morality and moral responsibility
  • Christian Beliefs & Society – Christianity’s influence on social issues and practices
  • Exam Preparation – Practice papers and assessment strategies

Assessment:

Students will complete three written exams:

  • Paper 1: Philosophy of Religion – 2 hours, 33.3% of A-Level, 120 marks

  • Paper 3: Christian Thought – 2 hours, 33.3% of A-Level, 120 marks
