What you’ll learn:

This course covers Spanish language proficiency and cultural studies, divided into nine key units:

  • Spanish Identity – Regional variations, separatism, and cultural identity
  • Cultural Heritage – Art, literature, and historical influences
  • Modern Times – Contemporary issues and societal changes
  • Politics – Government, activism, and democracy in Spain
  • Multiculturalism and Racism – Immigration, integration, and diversity

  • Customs & Celebrations – Festivals and traditions in Spanish-speaking countries
  • The Internet and Its Influence – Digital communication and its impact
  • Exam Preparation – Practice exercises and assessment strategies

You will also complete an independent research project on a topic of your choice related to Spanish-speaking cultures.

Assessment:

Students will complete three exams:

  • Paper 3: Speaking – 21-23 minutes (including 5 minutes preparation), 30% of A-Level, 60 marks
