Overview

Abrasive wheels are mainly used for cutting materials and surfaces, but some types are also used for deburring, polishing and finishing. Abrasive wheels are used widely in construction projects, including plumbing and welding.

The major workplace hazard associated with the abrasive wheel is its disintegration due to speed, which may send metal pieces flying through the workplace and into your eyes. It also causes respiratory disorders by inhaling the dust and fumes generated by the grinders.

Abrasive wheels rotate at the speed of about 6,000 to 15,000 rpm, so you can imagine the injuries they should cause on coming in contact with skin.

Abrasive wheels carry some of the most dangerous risks in the workplace, and accidents involving abrasive wheels are often severe. Despite these dangers, Abrasive wheels are still one of the most commonly used tools in the industrial and manufacturing world, such as drilling, filing, welding etc. With this in mind, it is important to receive safety training before using abrasive wheels at work.

Considering all the above hazards associated with using Abrasive wheels, we have devised explanatory abrasive wheels training to identify the hazards and take any precautionary measures. It also explains the procedure to follow in an emergency.

The Abrasive wheel training course will equip you with the information required to stay safe on the job. it will also help you to identify and control hazards and use abrasives safely in your work environment. Further, the course will explain how to prevent accidents from happening in the workplace use best practices and procedures for handling abrasive wheels.

Where it should be stored safely after work, how it should be transported and which part of your body you should keep away from them, what emergency equipment you will need if any accidents happen, and how to maintain a safe work area when using this abrasive wheels is also the part of the course.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
