Description

Our Assessing Risk course is suitable for anyone working in any type of work environment.

Throughout this Assessing Risk course, you will learn that it is a legal requirement to ensure the health, safety and welfare of employees.

You will also explore the two main pieces of health and safety legislation as well as the 'six-pack regulations that were introduced due to EU directives.

For a risk assessment to be effective in reducing the risks, it must identify the hazards that are foreseeable and significant.

In this course you will learn of the nine principles of prevention and that these are very similar to a hierarchy, and that more than one principle can be used to reduce the risks.

Employers must consider the principles of prevention in the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 when controlling the risks.

You will explore that elimination is the best option, as it eliminates the hazards and risks which is part of a five-step approach that is recommended by the HSE.

At the end of this Assessing Risk course you will learn that a method statement and a permit to work are often included as part of a safe system of work.

As well as acknowledging that employees, and others, should be informed about the hazards, risks, control measures and emergency procedures.

In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
