Description

This course will give you greater insight into child development, including child development from conception to 12 months. 12 months to two years. Three years to six years and seven to twelve years.

You will explore what factors can contribute to healthy development and what factors can contribute to unhealthy development. You will look at what the implications can be in later life and why a good level of development is so important in helping to shape young people.

After completing this course you will have detailed knowledge on developmental milestones from birth – twelve years.

In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.

  • Unit 1 – Introduction to child development – In the first unit you will cover what child development is, why a good level of development is so important in helping to shape young people. What can happen if a child does not have good levels of development and finally what the implications can be in later life.
  • Unit 2 – Child development from conception to 12 months – In this unit you will explore the development of the foetus from conception. You will also look at child development from birth to 6 months, including explain the primitive reflexes. You will then explore the physical, cognitive, communication, social, emotional and behavioural development of babies from birth the 6 months and for infants from 7 to 12 months.
  • Unit 3 – Child development from 12 months to 2 years – In this unit you will explore the physical, cognitive, communication, social, emotional and behavioural development of toddlers aged 12 to 18 months and 18 months to 24 months.
  • Unit 4 – Child development from 3 to 6 years – Throughout this unit you will explore the physical, cognitive, communication, social, emotional and behavioural development of toddlers aged 3 years, aged 4 years and finally aged 5-6 years.
  • Unit 5 – Child development from 7 to 12 years – In the final unit of the course, you will explore the years which range from children in Year 3 in primary school to Year 8 in secondary school and see huge changes in certain aspects of their lives, including puberty and moving from primary to secondary school. You will also explore the physical, cognitive, communication, social, emotional and behavioural development of children aged 7-12 years.
