Overview

You can study Medical Terminology as a standalone course or you can add this course to any other course we provide.

City & Guilds/AMSPAR Medical Terminology qualification is one of the key qualifications for a Medical Secretary/Administrator.

The exam is held 3 times a year (February, June and November). There is an additional exam entry fee payable to the exam centre when you book the exam. Centres are currently charging between £120-£190.

If you prefer you can sit the NCFE CQ accredited exam at home.

Description

Course Material There is a wide range of course material including demonstration videos, worked examples, build up exercises, information booklets, audio files, interactive typing program etc. Fees include the text book and exam preparation for the AMSPAR/City & Guilds exam.

City & Guilds exam entry fees are paid directly to the exam centre approximately 2 months prior to the exam date.

Tutor Support Qualified and experienced tutors will be working with you throughout the course providing feedback to submitted work, guidance and tutoring via email with the option to book phone/video calls when required.

Accessing Your Course You will access your course online from your computer, tablet or phone on the move or from home via your Learning Hub Account.

Course Open up to 10 months, giving you plenty of flexibility and “time out” for holidays, illness, moving house etc.

Studying From as little as 2 hours a week or more to suit you. However, outstanding students and those who study full time can be fast-tracked and potentially complete within 3 months.

CareersAdvice CV design, interviews, support whilst applying for jobs included and for up to 2 years after completion. Students secure a new job or gain promotion whilst studying with us or after they have completed their course.

Who is this course for?

The course is suitable for beginners as well as those already working as a Medical Secretary or Administrator who are looking to gain recognition for their knowledge and skills or who wish to have a refresher course in Medical Terminology.

Requirements

Business standard English skills are recommended.

Basic IT knowledge.

A computer, Internet connection, MS Office 2013/2016 or 365.

Hello, Would this certification be accepted, when applying to jobs in NHS UK?

Answer:

Hi Zafra Yes the AMSPAR Medical Terminology qualification would be accepted when applying for Medical Sec jobs in the NHS. You would of course need to have a work permit and any other visa requirements set out by the Foreign Office to work in the UK if you are not living and working in the UK. AMSPAR are hoping to provide this qualification online from later in the year - but we await further updates. You can contact me directly from our website - Course and Careers Advisor

Could you tell me if audio typing equipment is provided on this course?

Answer:

Hello Sarah The City & Guilds/AMSPAR Medical Terminology course does not include audio transcription. If you did wish to study audio transcription, we have two medical secretary diploma course which include this as well as the medical terminology. You do not need any equipment for the audio transcription.
