Description

Learning outcomes

  • You will understand how to plan for home learning, and be given some good examples of activities and learning opportunities that can be tried indoors and outdoors
  • You will know the law and guidance around home education in the UK
  • You will be able to keep your child safe online when learning and socialising
  • You will know how to create a structured, but flexible, learning environment, and how to use some common behaviour management techniques

Advantages of this course

  • The home needs to be a place where it’s natural and easy to join in, have a go, share thoughts and ideas, be curious, and experiment. It’s likely that you encourage your children to do this at home anyway, so the transition to home schooling won’t be as big of a change as some people worry that it will be. This course aims to reassure parents and carers who are having to create a home learning environment for the first time, and supports them on this transition from conventional schooling.
  • This course has a wealth of online resources and tools that parents and carers can use with their child, or direct them to use themselves if age and stage appropriate. The course also suggests Maths and English activities for the family to try at home or whilst running errands, and how to bring the outside in when children are not able to go outside as much as they would like to.
  • In the Activity section of the lesson, you will be asked to create a mood board for your child's interests and hobbies, and plan learning activities that cover different developmental areas.
  • There is also suggested extra reading that gives both practical information and links to websites and YouTube channels to expand knowledge

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Laser e-Certificate (included in the course price). You will also have the option of purchasing a CACHE Endorsed e-Certificate for an additional £4.99.

At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
