Overview
Have you ever watched a good crime drama and imagined what it would be like to be involved in catching the culprit? Perhaps you’ve wondered what drives people to commit the crimes we read about in the news? If so, this is the course for you. Whether it’s Ted Bundy or Pablo Escobar, every criminal will have a mindset, a modus operandi, a motive… and a criminal psychologist will delve deep into these facets in an effort to understand and apprehend them.
On this level 3 course, you’ll delve into theories of criminal behaviour, examining how social and biological factors can impact the propensity to offend. You’ll delve into the vital role that ear and eyewitnesses play in criminal trials, as well as what can improve its accuracy. You’ll discover how juries reach their decisions, and the factors that can affect the outcome of a trial. Moving on, you’ll take a look at the psychological causes of and theories surrounding crimes such as rape and domestic violence, and most importantly, you’ll examine the impact that crime can have upon the victim, and how reoffending can be prevented.
Designed to offer flexibility, this course allows you to study in your own time, at your own pace – a perfect option to fit into other commitments and schedules.
