Description
On completion of the course, students will gain an understanding of grief counselling, the role of a grief and bereavement counsellor and the goals of therapy in relation to grief. You will explore the different techniques used in grief counselling and learn about boundaries, protection of confidentiality, self care and supervisions.
We will cover the different types of grief and the types of loss and stages of grief. You will explore counselling methods and interventions as well as the processes including different types of therapeutic approaches.
You will learn about the goals and challenges of grief counselling and explore the objectives of grief counselling and the hurdles practitioners may encounter. We will also touch on critical aspects such as maintaining boundaries, supervision and GDPR compliance as well as safeguarding and ethical considerations.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units covered
- Unit 1 – Introduction to Grief Counselling - In the first unit we will cover what grief and bereavement is, the goals of therapy in relation to grief and the role of a grief and bereavement counsellor.
- Unit 2 – The Types of Loss - In this unit we will explore the types of loss that shape the human experience. You will learn about the challenges and emotions associated with different forms of loss. You will also cover the different stages of grief.
- Unit 3 – Counselling Methods and Processes - In the third unit we will explore counselling methods and processes. You will consider a wide range of therapeutic approaches and interventions aimed at supporting individuals through grief .
- Unit 4 – The Goal and Challenges of Grief Counselling - In the final unit we will cover the goals and challenges of grief counselling. You will explore the objectives of grief counselling and the complexities and hurdles a practitioner may encounter. You also cover the ethical considerations that underpin the process

Requirements
You are required to complete a 30 question multiple choice quiz at the end of the course. Where you need to achieve at least 80% or above to pass. You can complete the quiz as many times as you need to pass.
