Overview

How To Use Garden Herbs

This course will teach you many skills for using your herbs and is inspired by techniques and skills used throughout history. Many people like the idea of having a herb garden, but once the planting is done they are unsure how to use their plants. They may be limited to simply using rosemary or thyme in their cooking.

This course will teach you how to use your herbs for culinary, cosmetic, fragrant, gift and home health purposes. You will learn all about herb plants and the many diverse applications they have. In times past, people used Still Rooms for drying and storing herbs, subsequently transforming them into items for use in the home. The modern kitchen is an ideal substitute for a Still Room and, with the addition of a cool room for drying herbs, this is all you require to be a modern-day herb user. This course will qualify you to use herbs to make gifts and scented products, for culinary and cosmetic purposes and simple home remedies.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
