Aim of the course

To provide you as a manager or with significant responsibility for effective coaching and mentoring with the required knowledge, skills and understanding to effectively coach or mentor others within an organisational context. They are also ideal for individuals who wish to move into a development role or start a career as a freelance coach or mentor.

This course is designed to be taken over 3 months, but if you wish to work through at a quicker pace that is no problem. There will be two 1-day tutor-led online classroom sessions. Any further required tutor support can be negotiated

Description

You will cover 3 units

Learning outcomes

Unit 1: Understanding the Skills, Principles and Practice of Effective Coaching and Mentoring within an Organisational Context

  1. Understand the purpose of coaching and mentoring within an organisational context
  2. Understand the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be an effective coach or mentor
  3. Understand the models of coaching or mentoring that can be used to structure your intervention

Unit 2: Undertaking Effective Coaching or Mentoring within an Organisational Context

  1. Understand the importance of effective contracting and management of the coaching or mentoring process
  2. Be able to plan and prepare effective coaching or mentoring within an organisational context

Please note for this unit you will be required to undertake and record at least 18 hours of effective coaching or mentoring with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 individuals, You then will submit a written portfolio of evidence that you have undertaken the required practice. This will include forms and notes used, and feedback from the coachees/mentees.

Unit 3: Reviewing Own Ability as a Coach or Mentor within an Organisational Context

  1. Be able to holistically review your ability to perform effectively as a coach or mentor within an organisational context
  2. Be able to develop a plan for their future professional development in coaching or mentoring
