Want to be the best indoor cycling instructor you can be? This entirely online course will train you to an above industry standard indoor cycling instructor, and you'll have access to future development as well so that you can stay ahead of the rest, always.

All our tutors are indoor cycling instructors who instruct regular classes - you'll be taught best practice, and you'll see how it works on real people.

The course consists of online material, videos and articles. You can take this at your own pace, and there are frequent knowledge quizzes you can do to check your understanding.

  • You'll have your own personal tutor whom you can contact at any point to ask questions and gain understanding or support.
  • You'll have your own copy of the Indoor Cycling Instructor Handbook for reference on the course, but also after the course when you're an indoor cycling instructor.
  • You'll learn how to design sessions as well as deliver safe, effective and efficient classes, you'll also have the anatomical and physiological grounding to be able to answer many rider questions, and to evaluate whether a move is safe and effective or neither.
  • You'll also get to join our Facebook group solely for ICI instructors and have access to online seminars where you can ask about anything and build up your knowledge even after you've trained with us.

Description

ICI courses are designed to enable you to get the most out of them. The more technical aspects are covered in the precourse learning so you can go at your own pace, then the more practical skills and applied knowledge are covered on your study days so you can consolidate what you've learned and see how things work on real people, in practice.

You will receive your own free copy of the Indoor Cycling Instructor Handbook - a great resource for your future career!

By completing the course you will:

  • be a certified level 1 indoor cycling instructor to the higher ICI standard
  • know how to avoid the problems and mistakes that most indoor cycling instructors make
  • know how to design a safe, effective session from scratch
  • be able to deliver a safe, effective and efficient indoor cycling sessions
  • have the knowledge to provide a rationale for what elements you provide in your indoor cycling class
  • know applied anatomy and physiology and how this affects how riders ride, and how you need to teach
  • know different positions and intervals and when to use them for best effect
  • understand the principles of proper instruction, and how to enable every rider to achieve the challenges you set for them
  • know how to instruct intensity
  • be a professional indoor cycling instructor and understand what this involves.

Although 95% of our students pass the course first time, within the price is include one free resubmission. In the unlikely event that you'd need to resubmit again, a small fee of £50 to cover tutor costs will be incurred.

This course is designed specifically for you if you're unable to reach us for our masterclass course but want to train to the the higher standard of an ICI indoor cycling instructor.

Requirements

You must be 18+ to do this course and receive certification.

You must have access to an indoor bike or bike and turbotrainer in order to complete the practical assessment.

You do not need any other fitness industry training, certification or qualification to do this course. This course is complete in itself and will enable you to design and deliver high quality indoor cycling class to a higher than industry standard.

Career path

After completing this course, you could:

  • undertake further training to ICI level 2 and ICI level 3 indoor cycling
  • train as a fitness instructor or PT working in gyms and delivering exercise classes
  • undertake further study in other related areas - perhaps ICI CPD courses to augment your knowledge.

Is there additional costs on top of the fee . I would there be a first aid course

Answer:

No additional costs. If you need first aid, you would need to do this separately. Most gyms will not expect you to have first aid as they provide their own first aiders. The course does include a large section on rider safety.

How long will this course take? How quickly can it be done?

Answer:

Hello Frances, thanks for your enquiry. The course consists of online learning which takes approimately 8 hours (some students take longer, some students don't need so long - everyone is different); and then there is an assessment consisting of a theory test, a session plan, and a practical submission via video.
