Description

Most have heard of acupuncture but not as many understand its true purpose. Studying the Introduction to Acupuncture Course, you’ll gain a full understanding of what this treatment is, the theories and concepts behind it and the tools and techniques used in its practice.

You’ll discover the cause of disease, from the point of view of traditional Chinese medicine, and follow an in-depth exploration of the meridian system and the organs in the twelve standard meridians. With this knowledge in place, you’ll be guided through an exhaustive list of the hundreds of various acupuncture points, including their locations and functions.

The Introduction to Acupuncture Course takes you through various acupuncture and Chinese medicine techniques, including Needle Techniques, Moxibustion, Tui Na Massage, Cupping/Scraping, Scrape Therapy, Chinese Herbs, and Chinese Nutrition. The course discusses the disorders that Acupuncture can relieve and provides important information on safety and risks with his form of treatment.

To provide acupuncture, it is important that you understand the human body and the vital systems that make it function. The course provides this information, guiding you through the components of each system and how they work. You will learn about the diagnostic procedures used by acupuncturists, including Pathology Diagnosis, Differential Diagnosis, Pulse Diagnosis and Tongue Diagnosis.

In addition to the core lessons on offer, the Introduction to Acupuncture Course explains the use of research and reflective practice and how these areas can help you to continually improve your practice. You’ll also be guided through acupuncture’s Standards of Practice and Clinical Standards, along with how to actually run an acupuncture session.

Please note, this course has been designed as an introduction to acupuncture and should be used for theoretical use only. To practice professionally, you will need to undertake further study and undergo supervised training and assessment to fulfil the practical element of acupuncture training.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
