Description

The awarding organisation for this qualification is ProQual Awarding Body and the regulatory body is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).

The specification for these qualifications has been approved by the Welsh Government for use by centres in Wales and by the Council for the Curriculum Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) for use by centres in Northern Ireland.

ASSESSMENT METHOD

There are four pathways for this qualification and candidates are expected to choose which of the pathways that are most relevant to their skills.

The pathways are:

  1. Pathway 1 – Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plastering (Solid)
  2. Pathway 2 – Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plastering (Fibrous)
  3. Pathway 3 – Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plastering (Heritage Plastering – Solid)
  4. Pathway 4 – Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plastering (Heritage Plastering – Fibrous)

Candidates must demonstrate the level of knowledge described in the unit.

Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification.

Each candidate is required to produce evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.

Evidence can include:

  • Observation report by assessor
  • Assignments/projects/reports
  • Professional discussion
  • Witness testimony
  • Candidate product
  • Worksheets
  • Record of oral and written questioning
  • Recognition of Prior Learning

The number of units to be completed varies by pathways but all the pathways consist of the following mandatory units in addition to the pathway’s specific units:

  • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace

Candidates who achieve the requirements for qualifications will be awarded:

A certificate listing all units achieved and a certificate giving the full qualification title –

The qualification is for induvial already working as plasterers or plasterers mate looking to show their competence and get certified.

Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

ASQ will carry out an initial assessment of candidate skills and knowledge to identify any gaps and help plan the assessment.

Hi Joni, Thanks for your enquiry. The Level 2 NVQ Diploma In Plastering is a competency-based qualification and the duration is based on the individual candidate's readiness. The qualification requires that you complete a workbook and have an Assessor to check you at work and submit some required documents. As soon as all of these are achieved, you are done. I have seen people complete this in under a month and others for about 1 year, it all depends on your readiness.

Hi Fabian, This is an assessment process. That means an assessor will be assigned to you and visit you on-site for an observation assessment. Also, there is a knowledge workbook that you need to complete and you can do this at home on your computer.

This is meant to prove your competence as a plasterer. You need to be working as a plasterer already to get this qualification.

We are based in London. There is no on-site learning involved but we would have to visit your site for the on-site assessment. This could also be done remotely if arranged with your Assessor.

Hi Craig, For you to be assessed, the assessor will need to see you working, it doesn't have to be a construction site, it could be you working at a residential apartment as long as the Assessor is satisfied with what he sees, you will be fine.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
