At MKLC we have designed the Award in Online Teaching course content to be accessible for all, the course lessons are self paced, so if you feel confident in certain areas you progress quickly through these to the areas you wish to focus more on. You can also complete the assignments in the order you prefer. You will receive feedback from your tutor within 48 hours of submission, but each piece is independent so you can submit pieces whilst waiting on feedback from another.

You have contact with your tutor by e-mail, as well as the main office 9am to 5pm which is staffed only by employees who are qualified teachers and assessors and have experience with the courses, including the Award in Online Teaching course to be able to give you the most effective response to queries.

Description

The Award in Online teaching course, is a level 3 course endorsed by TQUK.

Course content:

The course is a self paced course over a month period, you are required to read the course notes and carry out research to produce written responses to text forums and complete the assignments on the different days. You will also need produce a lesson plan for a lesson (micro teach) up to 20 minutes, which is given on the final day of the course to others on the course. During the micro teach, you will have the chance to evaluate two other micro teaches and reflect on your own lesson.

The majority of the assignments are assessed through written methods, there are reasonable adjustments available for those who need them, for example professional discussions, these are arranged on an individual basis.

Who is this course for?

The course is suited for those already in a teaching role looking to develop their online skills or those looking to progress into teaching or tutoring and wanting an introductory course to see if online teaching is the right option for them.

The course is also suited to those looking to introduce a flipped or blended teaching approach to their courses.

Requirements

  • You must be aged 19 or over.
  • Our policy is that the course is open to everyone who is capable of reaching the required standards.
  • Working level 2 in English, Mathematics and Online skills

Career path

Teacher or trainer- average salary £25,00 to £35,000 depending on subject and location.

Online tutor- hourly rate can range from £30 to £60 per hour

Students may also want to continue onto a higher level accredited teaching qualification

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
