Overview

If you work in a Childcare setting or simply want to learn about paediatric first aid techniques, then this is the right course for you. To note, this course meets EYFS and Ofsted guidelines for Paediatric First Aid training.

How is this course delivered?

This course is delivered via a mix of E-Learning and in-person classroom training totalling 12 hours which means you can complete the course with flexibility. Once you book your one-day classroom course date, you will have 6 weeks to complete the 6 hours of E-Learning that is sent to you by e-mail (directly after booking the course).

This classroom element of this course can be delivered at the Paradise Training suite in Northampton or on-site at your place of work.

Courses at the Paradise Training Centre include free parking, buffet lunch, refreshments and use of a laptop (if required).

Description

Level 3 Paediatric First Aid: Course Content:

  • Assess an emergency situation and prioritise what action to take
  • Dealing with an infant or child that is unresponsive and breathing normally
  • Dealing with an infant or child that is unresponsive and not breathing normally
  • Seizures
  • Choking
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Shock caused by severe blood loss (hypovolemic shock)
  • Anaphylactic shock
  • Electric shock
  • Burns or scalds
  • Suspected fracture
  • Head, neck or back injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Foreign body in eyes, ears or nose
  • Eye injury
  • Bites and stings
  • Treatment for hot and cold temperatures

Who is this course for?

Who is the Level 3 Paediatric First Aid training course suitable for?

This course is designed for delegates who work with children in schools and nurseries.

Updated EYFS Framework: From January 2024 the latest EYFS changes mean that all staff who hold a Level 2 and/ or Level 3 Childcare qualification since 30 June 2016 in a nursery group and school-based setting must hold a valid Paediatric First Aid qualification to be included in the required staff : child ratios for Ofsted.

Requirements

In order to complete the E-Learning element of this course, you must have access to a computer and the internet.
