The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training qualifies you to work in the lifelong learning sector in a full teaching position within further education as well as in some secondary schools.

With this certification you are able to apply for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status (QTLS) through The Society for Education and Training.

Description

The guided learning hours for this course are 360 – 465 hours. As the course assignments are on-line, students may study completely at their own pace.

Students will be required to have access to 100 hours of teaching practice whilst on the course. (If you have done any teaching in the past 3 months, we will be able to take this into consideration.)

There is a requirement to be observed whilst on the course for a total of 8 hours. You can be observed by one of your suitably qualified colleagues. Future Step Education can also arrange observed teaching practice for you if required.

Requirements

All L5 DET students must be able to meet the requirement for 100 hours of teaching practice. You will be required to complete a log of your teaching activity that must be verified by someone that works within the organisation you enter on the log. Each learner will also be required to complete 8 hours observed practice. This can be delivered by someone from your organisation that already has a full teaching qualification.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
