can you help with finding a placement? what kind of teaching role do I have to be in? (secondary,Primary or a Tutor role)

Can the 100 hours be with KS3 students? and can you be observed by head of departments or does it have to be by one of your tutors? Many thanks

Hi Emma, yes the 100 hours can be done with students of any age. If there is a qualified teacher willing to observe you, then this would be perfect. If required, we can provide our observer for you.

Hi Jane, only a Grade One in CSE meets the requirements for L2. However, we do provide L2 skills assessments that you can take to evidence your L2. Thank you!

Hello, what requirements will I have to submit to start this course and upon completion, what would be the way to obtain QTLS?

Hi Francisco, the requirements for this course are that you have to demonstrate Maths and English at L2. So if you have GCSE, O Level or Functional skills certs you can provide these. If not we have a skill assessment available that you can take. You must have access to 100 hours of teaching and where you can complete 8 observations. However, if you are looking to apply for QTLS inline you will have to take the L5DIT, please see the course "Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (FE and Skills). Thanks!

Is there a fee if you need to resubmit your assignment?

Hi Mimi. Not at all, you can have as many resubmissions as you need and this is included in the price. The £499.99 is the all-inclusive price, no extras!

What level of qualifications does the teaching session observer require?

I deliver functional skills 1 2 1 remotely. Could I use these sessions for my observations?

Hi Alexander, We can accept international students on this course, however, due to our company being based in the UK you would need to provide your own observer for the 8 observations to complete within the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.

Could I go at my own pace and finish this course in two and a half months? - fulfilling my 100 hours and submitting my assignments.

What do the requirements “Good reading and writing skills in English” and “should be qualified/experienced in the subject they intend to teach”mean?

Hi Fatima, you will need to demonstrate basic literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 for the course induction. The L5DET is a full teaching qualification that will enable you to teach a subjects you are qualified/have experience in.

Is this course recognised by schools/colleges to progress to QTLS ? How does it differ to a Cert Ed please ?

Hi Lyndsay, this qualification is both nationally and internationally recognised. The qualification is recognised by the SET as well and you can apply for QTLS upon completion. A Certification in Education issued by a University is a full teaching qualification. The Certificate in Education is aimed primarily at persons with existing degrees who wish to teach in university. I'm wondering how many hours is the course and how many hours per week should be devoted to the course? What sort of assignments should one expect?

Hi Andy, officially the guided learning hours from the awarding body is 390. However, that is a brief guide we typically see the course completed within 6-9 months but it is dependant on how much time you have to commit to the course. How the proof of 100 hours teaching experience has to be submitted?

Once this course is completed it gives me QTS?

Hi M, you do not automatically gain QTS upon completion of the course. You can use the course to apply for QTLS which is an equivalent to the QTS. Thank you.

Dear M, for the 8 observations there is a requirement that there has to be a 2 week gap between each observation. You can use your own observer but they must hold a full teaching qualification or higher. Thank you.

If you are already teaching/taught 100 hours can you get this signed off? And are the 8 observations set for us or can we choose our own?

Dear M, you are only able to back date any teaching hours that you have done 3 months prior to enrolment. You are required to complete the 8 observations and they can be any subject that you wish to teach. Thank you.

Can I use this to enter final year of BEd degree?

Hi Bryan, upon completion of the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training it is equal to 120 formal credits. We recommend checking with your university of choice on whether they would accept this. Thank you!

I have L3 PTLLS. Can I get exemptions when I apply for DET? Is it also possible to do L5 DET for a Maths subject if I have no Maths qualifications?

Hi Kiwera, unfortunately the L3 PTLLS cannot be used as recognised prior learning for the L5 DET however the skill gained from completing the L3 PTLLS would help with the L5 DET. There is a requirement to hold a Level 3 qualification or higher in maths to take the numeracy specialism. Thank you.

Is all the material included in this course including any books needed

Hi Paul, all learning materials are provided to help you through each unit, we also have a reading list of websites that you can also use for research. The reading list also provides books that you can purchase to also help with research for assignments.

Are you able to submit the 8 teaching hours required for assessment via a video recording? Or do you have to have a qualified assessor in attendance?

Hi Brax, a qualified teacher would need to be in attendance. This can either be a qualified teacher that you have access to or alternatively, one of our observers. These observations can also be done remotely through the pandemic.

Hi, I have a BA in education, Ctlls, a pills and a Celta. Can my prior learning be used to reduce the guided learning hours?

Hi Serena. If any of your previous qualifications contain a unit that is exactly the same as one from the Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training, then you may be exempt from this unit. It will need to be checked as RPL before confirmation.

Since this is one year course, can I pay for 11 months before I complete the last assignment?
