Overview

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) replaces the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS).

The DET is designed to prepare new teachers and trainers to teach across a variety of contexts. In order to achieve this accredited qualification, there is a requirement for 100 hours teaching practice and 8 observations of competence.

This purchase is all-inclusive of the learning materials, with tutor support and observations (if required) included. Our course is all-inclusive and no fee is required for each unit after submitting coursework. There are seven units to be assessed and certificated for you to achieve the Diploma.

Description

You are usually expected to complete the course within 9 months from enrolment. We however give you an additional 3 months if you fail to complete during the normal duration which stretches the time period to a maximum 12 months!

Candidates are able to complete the course within a shorter time depending on a number of factors which includes own commitment and ability to study at a higher level. However, candidates joining the course with evidence of prior learning with a substantial number of credits will obviously be able to complete quicker! This is because the guided learning hours will also reduce.
Fast track is possible for those who are dedicated to studying at a fast pace, have resources and access to learning opportunities.

The course is offered at level 5 which involves being theoretical and the ability to critically analyse, use specific referencing, and carry out detailed reflection and evaluation.

This course will help you develop more effective classroom technique and allow you to choose better techniques and resources suitable for classes in adult education. Holders of Level 4 Certificate in Education will only be required to evidence up to 70 hours. A minimum 120 credits have to be achieved in order to gain the qualification, which includes a minimum 61 credits at level. The course involves describing, explaining and some evaluation and referencing.

Hi Francisco, the requirements for this course are that you have to demonstrate Maths and English at L2. So if you have GCSE, O Level or Functional skills certs you can provide these. If not we have a skill assessment available that you can take. You must have access to 100 hours of teaching and where you can complete 8 observations. A Certification in Education issued by a University is a full teaching qualification. The Certificate in Education is aimed primarily at persons with existing degrees who wish to teach in university. However, that is a brief guide we typically see the course completed within 6-9 months but it is dependant on how much time you have to commit to the course. Hi Kiwera, unfortunately the L3 PTLLS cannot be used as recognised prior learning for the L5 DET however the skill gained from completing the L3 PTLLS would help with the L5 DET. There is a requirement to hold a Level 3 qualification or higher in maths to take the numeracy specialism. Thank you.
