Students will also explore the roles of kings and Vikings during this time and analyze the survival, revival, and collapse of the Byzantine Empire. In addition, students will learn about the emergence of Christianity and the challenges of heresy during the medieval period.

Level 4: At this level, students will delve deeper into specific aspects of medieval life. This includes exploring the Islamic World and its impact on medieval Europe, examining the daily life and means of living for people during this period, and analysing the experiences of women in medieval society.

Level 5: In this final level, students will gain an advanced understanding of the cultural, social, and political developments of the medieval world. This includes exploring the literature, art, and architecture of this period, as well as analysing the interplay between magic and science. Students will also examine the military and warfare tactics used during the Middle Ages, as well as the emergence of state power and the impact of major calamities such as the Great Famine and the Black Death.
