Overview

Neuro-Linguistic programming (NLP) is a term that goes beyond the conventional personality development to encompass human development in its fullness. It constitutes three most important components that generate human experience: neurology, language, and programming. Neurology deals with the functions of our body, language focus on the way we communicate with other people and programming displays the type of models of the world we generate.

What does NLP involve?

NLP is a pragmatic School of thought – an epistemology that deals with the different layers of human personality like the development of competency and flexibility, behavioral process and understanding of mental and cognitive patterns that affects behavior. NLP provides the necessary skills and tools to help us develop these different layers of excellence. Besides, it helps us to understand who we are, how we define communication in our lives and what is a process of change? Overall it is about self-exploration, self-study, exploring our own self and our self-identity and what is our mission. It helps us move towards spirituality and make us connect with ourselves, our family, community and people and nature around. In NLP, we are not only striving to achieve perfectionism but also attaining wisdom.

Description

What are the fundamental principles of NLP?

NLP is based on two fundamental principles:

  • We can only perceive reality but cannot understand reality

As human beings what we feel and experience around us through our sensory representation systems determines our behaviour which gives us meaning to live, but there is something beyond which we cannot see or feel but can perceive, and this is reality. And it is not reality but rather what we have crafted in our mind about reality that empowers us or delimits our abilities.

  • Life and mind operate in harmony with each other and nature.

There is a harmonious relationship between human beings and human beings and everything around us. Our bodies, our societies form ecology of complex systems which interact and mutually influence each other. It is virtually impossible to isolate any part of the system from the rest. These systems are based on the self-organising principles which allow them to reach and attain the state of optimum balance or homeostasis.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
