Duration and Delivery
The qualification is designed to be completed over one academic year of full-time study. However, we accommodate for completely flexible delivery, so that students can schedule their learning around other commitments such as work or family. The qualification is delivered online through our Virtual Learning Environment.
Assessment and Verification
All units within this course are internally verified by our assessors and externally verified by OTHM. This course is criterion-referenced, based on specific learning outcomes. To achieve a “PASS” for a unit, a student must complete the learning outcomes to meet the assessment criteria set by OTHM.
Equivalences
The Level 5 OTHM qualification teaches practical skills, knowledge, competences, and capabilities that are comparable in academic terms as being equivalent to Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree or to a Higher National Certificate (HNC).
Progression
Successful completion of this course enables the learners to get direct entry into OTHM Level 6 Diplomas, including the Level 6 Diploma in Business Management. As this Diploma is regulated and approved by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulations), Learners can get direct entry into year 3 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree programs at University of Portsmouth.

Who is this course for?
This course is for learners who have a relevant level 4 qualification (or an equivalent) and want to advance their skills in accounting and business. This course also offers direct entry into the final year of a bachelor's degree at certain UK Universities.
Requirements
For entry in this course, learners must meet the following criteria:
- Have a relevant GCE/GCSE or NQF/QCF/RFQ Level 4 Diploma/Award or an equivalent qualification
- The student must be 18 or older at the time of enrollment
English Language Requirements:
Learners are expected to have English language proficiency of CEFR Level B2. This can be shown in the following ways:
- Being a native English speaker.
- Having achieved IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
- Having done your last two years of schooling in English.
- Passing the free English language test on our website.
Career path
This course can lead to, or enhance, your career in accounting or business. It also seriously assists those in a management position with understanding accounting and business concepts that they need to understand to delegate and lead properly.
