Description

This course is suitable for anyone working in health and social care roles, and will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to know and apply to ensure you are working in a person-centred way.

You will learn what the Care Quality Commission (CQC) says about person-centred care and what the benefits of person-centred care are. You will learn about the 6Cs of care and how they contribute to person centred care.

You will also learn the importance of effective multi-disciplinary working and how to apply person-centred care in a holistic way, to all aspects of a person’s care and support needs, including their health, wellbeing, social, psychological and spiritual needs.

You will also explore the importance of care-plans, how they should be used and how they should be reviewed. You will be able to access a free template, that you may wish to use and develop.

You will also gain knowledge on how to promote consent in practice and the benefits of gaining people’s consent.

In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.

  • Unit 1 – Introduction to Person-Centred Care – In the first unit of the course, you will be introduced to person-centred care and who needs to know about person-centred care. You will also explore an example of person-centred care and learn what the benefits are.
  • Unit 2 – How to Apply Person-Centred Care – In this unit, you will explore how you can apply person-centred are in everyday working practice, including the importance of communication and how to overcome barriers to communication.
  • Unit 3 – Care Plans – In this unit you will explore person-centred care plans, why these are needed and how they should be developed. You will also explore what the CQC’s guidance for care planning is and what support can be included in care plans.
  • Unit 4 – The Law and Record Keeping – In the final unit of the person-centred care course, you will explore all the laws and legislation that are relevant to person-centred care and care planning. You will also explore record-keeping and its importance in further detail.
