Overview

Professional boundaries define effective and appropriate interactions between professionals and the public they serve. These boundaries exist to protect both the professional and the customer.

It is crucial that staff understand the nature and limits of their roles and are able to recognise the ‘grey areas’ where they are at risk of crossing their professional boundaries. This course is aimed at anyone who works with customers. The skills learnt will enable you to define effective and appropriate interactions, understand and implement good practice and manage boundary issues effectively.

Online assessment included.

How it works

The key topics for this course have been broken down into lessons, each lesson dealing with a specific area of the overall subject. Each one has clearly set learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

You can progress through the course at your own pace. If you need to leave the course, it will remember where you left off, so when you return there is no need to repeat steps. We often include external links, videos, webpages, downloads, which provide excellent resource files.

At the end of each lesson is a knowledge checkpoint, you will need to achieve more than 75% to pass the lesson, which then unlocks the following lesson. Upon completion of the final lesson your CPD certificate will be unlocked. You can save this as a PDF to your computer or simply print it off.

Anne asked:

Can the skills gained apply to social work and does the course advise on how to be reflective?

Answer:

Hi Anne Many thanks for your message. The course focusses on professional boundaries in a work setting including relationships with clients so yes, it can be applied to Social Work Practice although it is written from a general perspective not specifically a social work perspective. It does not cover reflective practice persae but does look at how behaviour can affect practice. I am happy to chat with you if you require. Many thanks
