Overview

Adults can be injured in a number of ways. The elderly and frail are more at risk for abuse and neglect. Adult safeguarding refers to the prevention of abuse and neglect of dependent adults. Several strategies are taken to protect citizens' health, wellbeing, and human rights, enabling children, young people, and adults who may be at risk to live free from cruelty, violence, or negligence.

The purpose of this course is to teach the goals of adult protection and some of the laws that support them. Protecting adults is everyone's responsibility.The course provides examples of safeguarding issues that may arise as well as remedies that protect people while preserving their right to make life choices.
