K Burrow asked:
I was going to take this course, but the information says that training complies with KCSiE 2018. As this was updated in September 2019, I won't buy!
Answer:
Hello, I am sorry about this - it appears that we did not update the information on this page. It is 2019. Thank Garry.
Hello, This qualification is the Safeguarding Children Level 3 DSL course as stated in the title. There are Level 4 qualifications and of course degree courses after this course.
How is the course assessed? Multiple choice test?
There are a lot of DSL courses advertised yet they vary so much in price, how do they differ?
Answer:
Hello, Yes to pass the course you must complete a multiple choice test, which you can take as many times as you like included in the price. To see how courses differ you would need to see what each course offers.
Good morning, The Level 3 will take between 3-4hrs to complete but can be completed in stages - with no time limits.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Garry Harvey
I am wanting to complete the Level 3 DSL course but i wanted to check that if I sign up now - would i only get the info for KCSIE 2022 and not 2023?
Answer:
Hello, Although the latest KCSIE does not kick in until 01st September, you will notice that our course has been updated to the latest KCSIE 2023 with links still in place for the old version of KCSIE 2022. Thanks Garry
Has this been updated for KCSIE 2023 as it states 2022??
Answer:
Hello, The KCSI 2023 is not in force until 01st September as stated by the government website - therefore we can not give out the 2013 guidance until such time and confuse those thinking they are to work to that guidance now. However, Yes, our course shall be inline with these new updates from 01st September 2023.
can a playworker level 3 be a designated safguarding leader who has safguarding level 3
Answer:
In theory anyone can become the safeguarding officer as long as the owner/director of the organisation believes that the individual holds the relevant level of qualification and/or experience. The Level 3 DSL curse would usually be the minimum requirement needed.
I did a level 5 safeguarding module in my degree, if I did this in addition would I be a DSL?
Answer:
Hello, You would only become a DSL if you were employed as one. In general terms a position of DSL would require a person to hold a Level 3 certificate in Safeguarding (minimum) - but again you would have to ask your employer what they require. Regards Garry
What does it qualify you to do and is it recognized? Is there an exam? What format is the exam?
Answer:
Hello, As in the description the course will qualify you to be a Designated Safeguarding Lead and / or give you a full understanding of safeguarding. The course take approx 6 hours to complete before you take an online test (multiple choice). You can take the test as many times as needed at no extra cost until you pass. Your certificate is then valid for 2 years, is CPD certificated and recognised by the likes of Ofsted.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.
An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
