Description

Teaching Assistants work alongside teachers at the forefront of the classroom, assisting pupils with their learning; this can be individually or on a group basis. TAs carry out an important role within the classroom, initially identifying any learning or social issues that may arise with the pupils.

TAs are taking on increasingly important roles and special needs teaching assistants help children with a wide range of learning, physical or behavioural difficulties.

For example:

  • behavioural/social (eg difficulty making friends)
  • reading and writing (eg dyslexia)
  • understanding things
  • concentrating (eg Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
  • physical needs or impairments

As a Special Education Needs SEN Teaching Assistant, you will carry out a wide range of duties and this course will provide you with the knowledge to enable you to pursue a career in this field or provide you with the necessary understanding to improve your promotional prospects.

Not only does this course introduce you to specific syndromes and approaches to learning, you will also become familiar with technology used in the classroom and basic computer skills.

Requirements

You do not need any prior learning knowledge or experience to take this course. This course is openly available to anyone who wishes to take part in a highly rewarding home study course, although you would be expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy.

You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.
