Overview
Sexual harassment is unwanted conduct of a sexual nature. It's illegal and unprofessional, and it's a growing problem. Women, for example, often experience sexual harassment in the workplace or other professional settings. But sexual harassment isn't always about an imbalance of power: it can happen between two people: at school, at work, on the street or even online.
Dealing with sexual harassment in the workplace can be the most daunting work-related circumstance for a person. If you are the subject of inappropriate comments, you may not feel comfortable reporting them to your supervisor or co-workers. If you're the victim of sexual harassment at work, try calling out what's happening to help prevent others from experiencing it.
This Sexual Harassment course in the workplace will start by defining sexual harassment and explaining how protection comes from both employment and criminal law.
Next, you'll see from workplace statistics how widespread and severe the problem is and how the management response to concerns raised is often poor or non-existent. It also addresses how allegations should be handled.
It explains the importance of having clear and robust policies and the role line managers tend to take when dealing with these situations. The Sexual Harassment in the workplace course also covers investigation from the employer's perspective, and the role of employment tribunals.
Finally, it concludes with some case studies that will give further insight into what constitutes harassment and the outcomes of cases where businesses did not act appropriately to deal with it.
Learning Outcomes of Sexual Harassment in the Workplace:
- You will be able to identify statutory protection against sexual harassment
- You will understand the causes of sexual harassment in the workplace
- You will know what management is responsible for in respect of dealing with allegations of sexual misconduct
- You will understand the role and conduct of employment tribunals
- You can describe what action should be taken regarding harassment allegations.

Also, employees in middle management roles, team leaders and supervisors are encouraged to attend this Sexual Harassment course.
Sexual harassment is a workplace violation that can severely affect an employee. Many employees may stop coming to work if they are not treated with respect. Or other employees may bully other employees by complaining about sexual harassment to prevent further victims from coming forward.
After completing this sexual harassment in the workplace course, participants will be able to:
- Know the definition of sexual harassment and what it means
- Identify different forms of sexual harassment and what each entail
- Know how they can report any form of sexual harassment they've experienced
- Understand how they can help prevent themselves from engaging in any abusive behaviour
- Understand the differences between sex, gender, and sexuality
- Be clear on responding if someone has been sexually harassed or assaulted.
Moreover, it should not happen, and the law enlivens all personnel from sexual assault. However, in work, which is a place that should be a haven where people can work without fear, sexual harassment can lead to severe consequences.
Sexual harassment exists in every workforce segment, from elementary schools to university dormitories. Unfortunately, it can also happen in high-powered careers such as law and finance; in these cases, harassment is often an issue of power.
In its simplest form, sexual harassment in the workplace is unwanted indecent or sexual advances from a supervisor or superior.
It is best to report instances of sexual harassment to be on the safe side. The Human Rights Act protects people from being treated differently because of their gender, race, age or disability.
