Description

Learning outcomes

  • You will understand the 3 natural reactions to stress - flight, fight, or freeze
  • You will know the difference between distress and eustress
  • You will know some of the ways you can manage stress, and how some minor-moderate stress can be positive

Advantages of this course

  • We are living increasingly busy and challenging lives, and a lot of us have high-pressure jobs (such as health care and childcare workers) which can take a toll on our wellbeing. This course will help you understand what happens to your body when you're stressed, some of the most common stress triggers, and how to mitigate the harmful effects of stress
  • This course explores helpful strategies to reduce and manage stress, and some of the harmful strategies that often make the situation worse
  • You may feel like you’re not allowed to feel stressed about a happy event, like going on holiday, as people expect you to be positive and excited about it. Just remember, stress is a natural reaction and there are lots of us who would feel the same way when faced with a delayed flight or having to plan a holiday on top of a busy work schedule. You can’t change the way your body reacts in the moment, but you can manage the stress and learn from it. This course considers some of the ways we can learn from stress and use it as an opportunity for personal growth, where possible.
  • Additional activities encourage you to reflect on your learning
  • There is also suggested extended reading that gives both practical information and links to websites to expand knowledge

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Laser e-Certificate (included in the course price). You will also have the option of purchasing a NCFE Endorsed e-Certificate for an additional £4.99.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
