The Trinity CertTESOL is the first step in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). You will be introduced to the techniques and strategies for teaching English to speakers of other languages and receive detailed and tailored guidance from our Teacher Training expert.

Description

Study your course over 4 weeks – 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday

Run as an intensive one-month course, it requires daily attendance, Monday to Friday. Please note that you will also need to complete written coursework in addition to the live sessions. It may also require another 2-3 hours a day of independent study time.

What you will study in this course:

You’ll receive an introduction to the practice of how to teach English to speakers of other languages. Areas of study include:

  • Live input sessions
    120 hours of input sessions, which examine theoretical and practical aspects of EFL teaching.
  • Observed Teaching Practice
    You will complete six hours of supervised classroom teaching.
  • Unknown Language Journal
    You will also spend four hours learning an unknown language and reflecting on this experience.
  • Learner Profile & Written Assignments
    You will be asked to complete a series of short written assignments relating to the components of the course to help you analyse and reflect upon them.
  • Externally moderated by Trinity College London
    You will need to complete an internal Language Awareness Test in the final week and speak with a Trinity Moderator about various aspects of the course on the last day.

Requirements

Academic Requirements:

  • Provide a copy of your most significant academic certificate as proof of qualifications, per Trinity College requirements.
  • Demonstrate the capability to meet the academic demands of the course, typically shown by holding a university degree or equivalent qualifications.

English Entry Requirements:

The skills to fluently and accurately communicate in spoken and written English

  • Non-native English speakers must have an IELTS score of 7.0 (or equivalent) in each skill.
  • Native English speakers need a GCSE in English (minimum grade C) or equivalent.
