Description
We are not alone in feeling the negative effects of anxiety – the feline population are just as susceptible to the condition. This course will inform you about anxiety in cats and what can be done to treat or prevent it.
You will learn what anxiety is, why it is a prevalent trait in cats, the biological mechanisms that cause it and the behavioural and physiological outcomes of having anxiety. Through the course, you’ll also explore the causes of varying responses to stressful stimuli, such as differences in sensing and perceptual abilities, genetics, emotional states, and past experiences.
The course explains the treatment options to help a cat who is suffering from anxiety and provides an outline of preventative measures that can improve a cat’s social and home environments.
By studying this course, you will:
- Learn how cats perceive their world and how it contrasts with human perception
- Understand the causes and function of anxiety
- Become familiar with the signs of feline anxiety and the physiology of stress
- Learn how genetics and epigenetics can influence stress responses
- Be aware of the potential health impact of chronic stress
