Overview
Our bespoke digital careers course has been designed for pupils and students in KS3/4 as a digital route to enhance employment outcomes for young people. Designed in mind for Career Leads and Advisors in schools to set the programme over one or more academic years, to be used inside career timetabling, form or tutor time and as schemes of work for home study. The programme will support schools and students in reaching Gatsby benchmarks, and will support schools with the new amends to the Education Act (Careers Guidance in Schools) and your duty to all pupils from year 7 to year 13. This programme will help support with Ofsted's inspection criteria which has been updated to highlight the importance of schools reaching the new criteria. Lastly, the course supports digital resources and helps deliver virtual careers experiences alongside your current offerings.

Description
Gateway To Work has been designed by Reed with our 60 years of experience of what employers are looking for in school leavers and young people as they enter the workforce for the first time. Using our extensive experience and knowledge from the thousands of companies and organisations we recruit for every year, this digital course will equip students and pupils with the skills and knowledge to make the transition from education to work.
The programme is designed to be run alongside your Careers offering in school, used to compliment and enhance understanding of the world of work and give authentic and meaningful experiences across a series of modules including lecturers, video, schemes of work, quizzes and all designed for self-reflection, self-awareness, self-confidence and self-efficacy.
The course runs across five modules as explained below. Content highlights include:
- Material and resources for Career Leads and Advisors in Schools.
- 18 unique virtual work experiences, across Reed's extensive client base with organisations and sectors such as The Money and Pension Company, The London Fire Brigade, Busy Bees Nursery Chain, Reed.co.uk, Charity, and many more - students can complete all or pick options to experience.
- Ground breaking and best-in-class labour market intelligence (LMI) from Reed, including a detailed Salary Guide for entry level jobs across 19 industries.
- Access to three free online courses, including Leadership & Management, and Food Hygiene that students can complete.
- A unique SMS mock interview including a professional report detailing feedback to the student as well as a video mock interview option for the student to practice the art of interviews.
The modules can be scheduled and timetabled over one or two academic years, for example Year 9 to Year 10, or Year 10 to Year 11.
The modules:
- Working on You - a chance for the student to explore strengths related to the workplace, focusing on confidence and clarity of career options.
- Virtual Work Experiences - 18 virtual work experiences for the student to explore and complete from some of the most well know organisations in the UK.
- Choose Your Pathway - a complete module of LMI and information for students to open up curiosity and options for careers.
- Upskill in Your Field - access to free external courses for the student to complete and add to their CV.
- Get Ready For Work - the chance to prepare the best CV, ace the application process, learn how to search for jobs and the experience of SMS/Video mock interviews with reports and feedback to the student.
All the way along, the student can earn Job Ready Credits which can be displayed on the students CV once they begin the search for employment.
