Academic Mentor

Location: Oldham, UK
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Position Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Academic Mentor to join our team and help our students reach their full potential.

Job Overview: As an Academic Mentor, you will provide targeted academic support to students, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their academic goals. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to identify students who would benefit from additional support and develop strategies to enhance their learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in core subjects such as Maths, English, and Science.

Work collaboratively with teachers to identify students' needs and develop tailored support plans.

Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and teachers.

Assist students in developing effective study habits, organizational skills, and exam preparation strategies.

Create and maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.

Engage and motivate students to develop a love for learning and achieve their academic potential.

Prepare and use resources effectively to support learning activities.

Maintain accurate records of student sessions, progress, and outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills:

Relevant qualifications in education or a related field.

Previous experience in tutoring, mentoring, or teaching is highly desirable.

Strong subject knowledge in core academic areas (Maths, English, Science).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting student development.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
