Academic Mentor
Role: Academic Mentor (KS3 & KS4)
Location: Stockport
Pay Rate: £100 – £110 a day
Milk Education are looking for an enthusiastic Academic Mentor in all core subjects in line with the curriculum, supporting teachers and students by providing targeted and specialist support driving students to their goals and help fulfill their potential.
Milk Education are in partnership with an SEMH secondary school who believe every student can thrive- regardless of their ability, background or past experiences. Staff work with students to develop them as individuals with their own social, emotional and mental health needs whilst also keeping a focus on academic learning.
Academic Mentor Duties:
- Provide specialist support on a 1;1 and small group basis within a curriculum area under the direction of the teacher.
- Be able to adapt and differentiate learning programmes to meet students’ needs
- Plan and evaluate specialist learning activities with the teacher
- Asses, record and report on development, progress and attainment within agreed procedures
- Deliver structured intervention and catch-up programmes
- Other duties of a similar level specified by the line-manager – exam invigilation, lunch support and supervision on educational visits and trips.
Academic Mentor must haves:
- Excellent behaviour management skills
- Previous experience working at an Alternative provision or Secondary inclusion setting
- Support the school values and ethos
- Follow school policies, practices and procedures
- Confident in areas of core subjects with previous experience
- Confident user of ICT
