We are working with a Local Government authority who are looking for a Senior Accounting Technician (Finance Business Partner) to assist the Senior Finance Business Partner on an interim basis.  

Senior Accounting Technician (Finance Business Partner)

Start: ASAP

Rate: £300 Inside IR35 (negotiable depending on experience)

Duration: 6 months initially subject to further extensions

Onsite: Remote working available

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Senior Finance Business Partner with the preparation of annual revenue estimates, the monitoring of income and expenditure and annual closedown of accounts for the Authority
  • Provide financial support to the allocated Head(s) of Service, responding to ad hoc and routine requests for assistance / information
  • Provide support with the Council’s cashflow, banking and money market transactions for the Council, with regard to the Treasury Management policy of each Authority
  • Provide support to the management of the Capital Programme budgets, including monitoring income and expenditure, co-ordination of capital bids, completion of government returns and annual closedown of accounts
  • Assist with the preparation of annual revenue estimates.
  • Meet with budget holders to discuss their budget requirements
  • Advise on various financial matters as requested by the Senior Finance Business Partner

Requirements:

  • Experience of Local Authority accounting
  • Experience of budget preparation and final accounts closedown
  • AAT qualification or equivalent
