Reed Accountancy are supporting a local client as they seek an Accounts Assistant to join their head office team, supporting the 8 UK depots across the UK.

Working within a team of 4 ,this role is ideal for someone who is confident, accurate, and has knowledge of double entry as you will predominantly be working on the Sales Ledger but support across Purchase Ledger function.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Handle account queries from customers via phone and email.
  • Reconcile customer payments, including BACS and card transactions.
  • Engage in credit control activities as needed, though the customers are generally good payers.
  • Add new customers to the system using Excel import sheets.
  • Perform general accounts receivable administrative tasks such as mailing and scanning.
  • Import accounts payable invoices onto the system using AP Automation software when necessary.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding queries or to confirm ledger balances.
  • Carry out general accounts payable administrative duties, including scanning.
  • Reconcile credit card payments and bank payments daily, particularly during peak times.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and direct them to the sales team when necessary

To be successful in this role you will have proficiency in Excel and able to create and manage spreadsheets (advanced functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs are not required). You will have a strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and correct mistakes alongside strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with different areas of the business.

The role is fully office-based, from 9 am to 5 pm with an hour for lunch. Free parking is available onsite, however due to the office location you will need to be a driver.
