Background

Our client are a leading firm of chartered accountants with offices based in Newport. They are now looking to expand their accounts team and find the right candidate to take on the role as a Accounts Senior.

This is a role with excellent progression and development potential as you’ll be focused on working with the firms varied client base.



Overview

The Accounts Senior will be a key member of the Business Advisory Department. They will be the first point of contact for the client and will be responsible for managing the completion of their accounts assignments. They will also be responsible for keeping management up to date on the status of  their work.



Job description

As an Accounts Senior, your typical daily duties will include;

  • Maintain and develop technical ability by attending webinars and keeping abreast of technical development;
  • Preparation and completion of Limited company accounts
  • Ability to use Xero, and other accountancy software. 
  • Ability to reconcile all control accounts
  • Supporting junior colleagues with queries;
  • Preparation of management accounts;
  • Dealing with Ad hoc queries raised by clients
  • Being the first point of contact for the client whilst working on their accounts;;
  • Keep the manager informed of any issues that arise with the client;
  • Raise any potential time overruns with the manager as they are identified;
  • Be responsible for clearing review points and addressing any follow up queries until the date the accounts are signed.


Person specifications

  • Be approachable to members of the accounts team;
  • Clearly explain technical points to the accounts team;
  • Must have a good amount of Limited company accounts experience;
  • Ideally a proficient user of Pro Audit (auto automation) and CCH Accounts Production;
  • Experience as senior overseeing juniors;
  • Lead by example and instil a sense of professionalism in the team;
  • Maintain objectivity, professionalism and independence in client relationship;
  • Discuss difficult/contentious matters with the client directly on-site;
  • Present yourself in a professional manner to the client at all times, including being appropriately dressed and communicating in an appropriate manner


Working arrangements

The working week: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday); standard office hours are 8.30AM to 5.00PM with flexibility of hours to meet specific work demands and client office hours.  

Location: Your work base is Newport Office. However, you may be required to spend time working at client premises.
