Position Summary: The Activation Director will lead the development and execution of comprehensive activation strategies to enhance audience engagement, brand awareness, and revenue growth. This role demands a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of the publishing or audio industry and extensive experience with Direct Insertion Orders (IO). The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, an effective leader, and an expert in managing complex projects and campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and oversee the implementation of robust activation strategies aligned with business objectives.
    • Analyze market trends, audience behavior, and competitive landscape to inform strategy.
    • Identify and leverage new opportunities for brand growth and engagement.
  • Campaign Management:

    • Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of activation campaigns across digital, print, audio, and social media channels.
    • Manage the creation, negotiation, and deployment of Direct IO campaigns, ensuring precise execution and performance tracking.
    • Utilize data-driven insights to refine and enhance campaign effectiveness.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing activation team.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
    • Provide clear direction, support, and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Partner with marketing, sales, content, and creative teams to ensure alignment and synergy in activation efforts.
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
    • Communicate campaign goals, progress, and results to senior leadership and other relevant parties.
  • Project Management:

    • Oversee the management of multiple projects, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery.
    • Implement and utilize project management tools and methodologies.
    • Proactively address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during project execution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Significant experience in the publishing or audio industry with a strong track record of successful activation initiatives.
  • Expertise in managing Direct IO campaigns and a deep understanding of industry standards and best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in leveraging data to drive strategic decisions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with project management and marketing tools (e.g., CRM, analytics platforms).
