About The Role
Team – Actuarial Life
Working Pattern - Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Vitality London Office. Full time, 37.5 hours per week.

What this role is all about:
As an actuarial analyst in the VitalityLife reinsurance team you will be involved in the oversight, review and implementation of VitalityLife reinsurance arrangements. You will work closely with several different teams to understand the reinsurance needs and the impact of reinsurance across the business. You will also work closely with the data team tasked with developing monthly reinsurance accounts to ensure the reinsurance arrangements are being accurately implemented.  
Key Actions
  • Review the retention calculations that are applied to the reinsurance accounts and assist the reinsurance data team in ensuring the retention amounts are accurate as per the treaties
  • Review the reassured premium calculations that are applied to the reinsurance accounts and assist the reinsurance data team in ensuring the reassured premiums are accurate as per the treaties
  • Work to update the retention and reassured premium calculations when there are changes
  • Assist in providing experience data to reinsurers where they request it
  • Support with adhoc queries from reinsurers arising from claims, underwriting and account data
  • Assist in liaising between the product development, pricing, underwriting, distribution quality management and claims teams and the reinsurers to make sure the reinsurers are aware of what the business priorities are and that they have the required information to answer any questions we may have
  • Support in treaty/addendums reviews
  • Assist in understanding the financial impact of any changes to reinsurance arrangements, rates & structures. 
Essential Skills needed to fulfil this role:
  • Actuarial Student (i.e. progress through Core Principles exams)
  • Actuarial work experience will be an advantage
  • Technically inclined with attention to detail
  • Confident communicating both verbally and written at all levels
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret a broad range of data and complex financial calculations
  • Strong IT skills and comfortable working on multiple software packages (e.g sql, R, Phyton, Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Prophet experience will be an advantage)
  • Work under pressure and within a dynamic and changing environment
