Southend Mencap supports the needs and interests of people with learning disabilities, as well as those of their parents and carers, in the south-east of Essex. Two of our most in demand projects are our Advocacy and Family Support services. Both have been in operation for over 20 years but due to the significant increase in demand for them, we now find it necessary to introduce a new role that will oversee the Advocacy and Family Support projects.

This new role of Advocacy Co-Ordinator will include…

To co-ordinate all communications coming into Southend Mencap for both the Advocacy and Family Support services workers

To oversee the workload and subsequent workflow of the Advocacy and Family Support services workers ensuring that all communications are responded to within 4 working days.

Maintain and update the Advocacy/Family Support services database of case and client information, ensuring it is done in line with national and the society’s data protection policy.

Lead monthly meetings with Advocacy and Family Support staff to review workloads and understand what the current issues are.

Implement appraisal process for the Advocacy and Family Support staff.

20-25 hours per week (flexi-time)

Salary £29,120 - pro rata
