Job Purpose

To support ONE business commercial strategy based on understanding, anticipating and influencing yield in order to maximise revenue and/or profits from fixed assets. Support business decisions by data provision and performance reporting.

Primary Job Responsibilities and Measurement

  • EUA surcharges and Detention/Demurrage tariffs management to ensure costs recovery, market competitiveness as well as overall compliance.
  • Ensuring EUA surcharges processes meet all regulatory requirements as applicable.
  • Ensuring that EUA tariffs are in line with global policy as set up by GHQ and respective Trades strategies.
  • Cooperating with EUA AGM team in relation to Third Party Agents surcharges and with EUA IOP team in relation to inland haulage surcharges.
  • Executing multi-Trade commercial policies as set up by GHQ while ensuring that EUA feedback is considered in those policies.
  • Assisting users with any COA / CM (contribution margin) inquiries while working with GHQ and other relevant stakeholders to ensure highest cost & revenue accuracy in CM assessment.
  • Review monthly EPP Cost (EPCAS) coordination with the Trade & Container Flow Management team.
  • Perform data analysis and ad hoc studies for specific business concepts within the EUA business environment and as required for Trade.
  • Identify and coordinate with the Trade and Sales team for key areas of yield improvement including round voyage cargo movement and cargo portfolio, review and measurement process to be included. Coordinate cargo portfolio strategy analysis. Together with Marketing and Trade Teams analyse yield revenue impact of cargo portfolio with a view to maximising yield return using data & BI Tools to steer the business.
  • To maintain, update and enhance current EUA SYM YM reporting and KPIs tools.
  • To develop new reporting and operational tools as required by business needs - mostly in
  • Tableau/Looker/Eagle Plus
  • To assist with developing end users’ knowledge of current and to provide effective roll out sessions of new BI reporting tools
  • Promoting data which Business Intelligence in GHQ had shared to Europe Trade/Sales/Customer service depend on functionality of the tool (Eagle Plus/BACS etc)
  • Provide management advice on changes / enhancement to Service Product Design & provide Yield management ideas to Network Planning Teams on product optimisation.
  • Coordinate Regional target setting from global/trade target for measurement of business plan performance using KPIs, review and measurement process to be included.

Scope of Role

Location: London RHQ.

Breadth & range of responsibilities
To offer guidance and support using business data to the teams within Marketing / Trade. To resolve cross Trade discussions and escalate to SYM Management if needed.

Skills, Qualifications and Expertise

  • Very strong data and analytical skills able to demonstrate strong experience of using Google Slides, Google Sheets, Tableau or other BI tools.
  • Strong business intelligence understanding.
  • High understanding of the Shipping business including marketing / Trade understanding, Pricing & Yield management principles.
  • Good communicator and negotiator and able to present facts based on data-based arguments.
  • A university degree or higher education would be beneficial
