Toxicology Technical Specialist

Based in Warrington

About the Role: Join a leading UK forensic provider as a Toxicology Technical Specialist. Under the guidance of the Research and Development Lead Analytical Toxicologist, you’ll contribute to method development, validation projects, and casework support.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, validate, and implement new methods in line with ISO17025 and the Forensic Science Regulator’s Codes of Practice & Conduct.
  • Prepare validation protocols and reports following KFS Quality Management System guidelines.
  • Evaluate and refine existing processes for efficiency and robustness.
  • Assist in Quality Control investigations.
  • Provide technical advice and conduct quality investigations.
  • Deliver training to the Toxicology analytical team.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent understanding of drug extraction techniques (notably LLE and SPE).
  • Proficiency in immunoassay and chromatographic techniques (such as ELISA, HS-GC-FID, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, and HPLC-DAD).
  • Troubleshooting experience with LC-MS/MS instrumentation (hardware and software).
  • Familiarity with good laboratory practices, including ISO17025 and anti-contamination protocols.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Customer-focused with commercial acumen.
  • Proficient in IT tools (Microsoft Office, Excel) for data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
  • Familiarity with AB Sciex, Thermo, and/or Waters equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a degree in a scientific subject.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in method development and validation projects in a Toxicology setting.
