Animal Welfare & Science Teacher -

  • Report to: Head of Department for Animal Welfare & Science
  • Location: Dorchester
  • Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum
  • Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Part time also available

Job Overview:

Seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join their team as an Animal Welfare & Science Teacher in the Dorchester area. As a Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to their students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the Animal Welfare & Science industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare schemes of work/learning, lesson plans and assessment plans
  • Teach and complete summative and formative assessment
  • Teach groups of students in both practical skills, classroom situations and online using both of our Coneygar and Animal Park animal collections
  • Monitor the attendance, punctuality and academic progress for all students in your groups providing them with access to any extra help they may require (e.g. learning support)
  • Prepare for moderation, internal verification and liaise with the Course Manager, Academic Manager and External Verifier to ensure the effective validation of programmes
  • Contribute to Course and Department Team Meetings, Course Review and Action Planning for your courses and contribute towards the Academy Self-Assessment Review
  • Organise and conduct trips and study tours as appropriate face to face or virtual
  • Ensure accurate records of learner progress are kept
  • To supervise students whilst they participate on training programmes
  • To organise and run demonstrations, guided tours and talks for visitors and students

Requirements:

  • Level 6 Qualification in Animal Sciences/ Veterinary Nursing or Science, Biological or a related subject
  • Teaching Qualification at Level 5 or above
  • First Aid Qualification either First Aid at Work or 'Appointed Person'
  • Experience in working with a range or animals
  • Experience delivering and assessing on HE Qualifications
