Applications Engineer

Shillito Executive Search are working with a Sheffield based machining business who are looking to recruit 2 Applications Engineers into their team.

Based in the industrial heart of the Steel City, the company offers state of the art facilities and supports customers with machine tooling projects across a range of different industries including; nuclear, defence, power generation, offshore oil and gas and aerospace.

The purpose of the role

Working alongside the OEM and customer to explore and execute the best possible methods and technicians to get the best out of the machine around producing high end components.

The role of the Applications Engineer

• The Application Engineer will be part of a team that will be involved with the next generation of UK defence programmes.
• As part of the program, the business will be working in partnership with the customer and new machine tool provider OEM.
• Where required, the Applications Engineer will attend meetings and aid in scheduling workloads for the rest of the application team.
• They will be a key part of a highly skilled team and thrive in delivering high-quality results and always be on the lookout for improvements/
• On-site, hands on work will be required, to assist with programming, tooling, work holding, cutting methodology on newly installed machine tools.

Responsibilities of the Applications Engineer

• Deliver programs through Siemens NX
• Deliver Programmer and Operator training
• Carry out final commissioning on new installations including post processor prove outs - test pieces - tooling -etc
• Be able to deliver alternative methods of machining high value parts within the team
• Engage with tooling companies to provide alternative tooling methods

What we're looking for:

• Training will be provided, however a knowledge of Siemens NX, Varicut and Siemens Sinumerick will be advantageous
• Experience in customer facing roles
• Ability to carry out some travel internationally
• Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers at all organisational levels.
