Under direct supervision, learns & performs a wide variety of technical duties to ensure our aviation product range is compliant with industry best practice. To assist & become proficient in the service and support critical infrastructure Security & Detection Systems.

First 6-months of training program will involve working within the Service team, and other relevant departments at Manchester Airport and Commissioning/ Install teams. Following which, the role will be based mainly at Manchester Airport and also field based shadowing the Field Service Engineers cross the North region of the UK.

To complete a 4-year apprenticeship program and attain a ‘competency qualification’ within the Electrical / Electronic “Mechatronics” apprenticeship standard whilst attending college on a day release basis and/or as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Role

  • Works within UK Service.
  • Competently use Test Equipment (DVM, Radiation meters and PAC tester)
  • To attend internal product training
  • Training to perform assembly tasks
  • To assist in the repair & maintenance of Security & Detection Systems within Field Service
  • Training to wire electrical control cabinets
  • Training to understand GA drawings and Electrical documentation. Attendance at college on a day release basis leading to attainment of Engineering Technician Level 3 qualification
  • Working across all departments to achieve a complete understanding of the Service, Manufacturing / Engineering processes

  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to understand tasks allocated and to work with the department team.

Team Working

  • Role involves working with the service, manufacturing, stores and engineering team.

Cross Functional Working

  • Adapt to roles within other departments to facilitate delivery of projects

Health & Safety

  • Always follow and promote Group and Company policies and procedures 
  • Ensure all Company equipment and personal PPE is correctly used and maintained.

Requirements

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to undertake and follow instructions. 
  • Able to express ideas clearly
  • An interest in electronic, electrical or mechanical engineering

Experience

  • Experience in a similar role

Qualifications

  • Good GCSE secondary school qualifications in core subjects.
  • Ability to use computers and understanding of Microsoft packages

Other

  • Needs to be able to obtain DBS clearance for Airport Airside access
  • Candidates need to be 18 years old+ to meet H&S requirements to work on X-ray machines
  • A clean, full UK driving license

Position will pay GBP16,000.
