The Role of the Area Sales Engineer

  • We are looking for a versatile, dynamic and hungry Area Sales Engineer to join our client, a global leading manufacturer in the Steam & Process Equipment industry.

  • As the Area Sales Engineer, you will be heavily focussed on solution-led sales with the emphasis on having a strong presence with your customers in order to ensure constant streams of repeat business.

  • You will be involved in selling Steam Equipment, Steam Traps, Control Valves, Flow Control Equipment, Heat Exchanges, PLC’s & Aftermarket Services mainly into End Users and Re-Sellers but also dealing with Facilities Management companies and Contractors.

  • Mainly but not restricting, the Area Sales Engineer will be looking after a proven portfolio of existing customers however you will be tasked with looking to target new business accounts as well as looking after projects. The role will be 75% existing and 25% new business.

  • Expected to spend 3/4 days working in the field, with 1/2 day spent working from home.

  • Target circa £2-£2.5 million.

The Ideal Person for the Area Sales Engineer

  • MUST have sales experience, may consider someone internal that wants to go external or technical into sales.

  • Engineering degree would be ideal, but will consider a lower qualification ideally in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering - though experience is important and would consider time served.

  • Ideally experience in steam equipment, would also consider Pumps, Valves, Controls, Automation (Mech Fluid Automation), Heat Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Heat Transfer, Compressors, Pneumatics or any technical Mechanical backgrounds.

  • You must be versatile and dynamic, with the ability to sell thoroughly across different customer applications.

  • Ideally you will have experience of dealing with a wide variety of OEM customers including Food & Beverages, Healthcare and Pharmaceutical.

  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence required.
