The Client
Our client is a well-established wholesaler of a wide variety of industrial products. Some of their product categories include automotive equipment, generators, air compressors and air tools to name a few. An opportunity has arisen for a National Account Manager to support some specific DIY Retail and Trade customers.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing existing accounts within your area territory. Maximising trading profit at agreed percentage margins by managing, expanding and developing relationships, ranges, promotion activity, and the dovetail of the customers’ expectations with the capabilities of the business. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- To develop existing accounts to achieve sales targets.
- Problem solving and proactive thinking.
- Generate a network of customer contacts.
- Set a Business Development plan annually with each customer contact.
- Ensure sales with customers meet company profit margin expectations.
- Achieve the annual sales and profit targets across the portfolio of customers.
- Confirm & attend regional meetings with customers with the relevant Regional Manager / National Account Manager.
- Ensure the UK office facility is used to host customer training, relationship building, business meeting and range selection meetings during the year.
- Advise the Company of the optimum pricing strategy to increase trading margins across the account portfolio whilst growing revenue numbers.
- Set up representation at distributor and multi-site customer Regional Manager meetings.
- Lead the resolution of any customer queries or disputes that might lead to customer dissatisfaction or delayed payments.
The successful candidate needs to be a strong communicator both written and verbal, self-motivated, target driven, professional and dynamic. You will need to be strong numerically and computer literate. It is preferred that you are degree level educated or equivalent by experience, but not essential. It is also preferred that the applicant has prior experience managing DIY and Catalogue Retail accounts.
