Aspiring Psychologist - Mental Health Worker

A great opportunity has recently become available for a mental health worker in a lovely Specialist school in Reading. If you are interested in working with children who have struggles with their mental health then this is the perfect opportunity for you!

This lovely inclusive school are looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual to come in with a positive attitude and uplift their students.

Ideally the Mental Health Worker will be a graduate with a degree in psychology, criminology or sociology. Those with a background in sport, art or music are also encouraged to apply! A degree however is not essential and those with passion and a great work ethic are most welcome and encouraged to apply!

Your role as a Mental Health Worker will be to provide support to students who are having a difficult time with processing and regulating their emotions. Because they struggle to regulate their emotions, they may have trouble with their behaviour. You will help de-escalate any situations and redirect the children with the help of the class teacher.

A day at this specialist school is structured, with every child having a personalised education and health care plan. They will all also have individualised goals based on their personal needs. You will be an important part in helping set the students up for success!

To be a successful Mental Health Worker, you will need to have patience, have a positive outlook, be enthusiastic and set a good example for the students. You must take initiative well and be able to adapt your approach to meet the needs of the students.
