SSEN Transmission (part of SSE Group) has a great opportunity for an experienced asset planning and investment professional to join the Asset Management department in the operator of one of Europe's fastest growing transmission networks, playing an important role in capital investment delivery enabling the transition to the low-carbon economy.

In this role you will be a business case lead for assigned projects acting as an internal client (asset owner) for project teams and other Transmission departments. You will utilise investment analysis techniques (including optioneering, cost-benefit analysis and discounted cash flows) to optimise and justify engineering investments in our high voltage transmission network.

- Produce compelling, high quality investment papers including engineering justification papers and business cases, factoring in asset condition, network risk, operational safety, whole-life investment modelling, and commercial/financial considerations.

- Monitor the delivery of the project portfolio, review scope change requests, and undertake post-investment appraisals to optimise future investment decisions. Be a team representative for the assigned projects to various governance boards.

- Utilise asset management data tools such as CBRM, Invest, Maximo, ArcGIS to analyse the asset portfolio.

- Participate in regulatory engagement with Ofgem ensuring investment in the network is compliant with statutory, regulatory and license requirements.

- Support the development of forward-looking risk-based investment plans aligned to outage plans, asset condition, whole system development, network growth plans and regulatory license conditions.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Understanding and experience of project management processes with physical infrastructure assets, managing asset investment models and plans.

- High level of competency in carrying out infrastructure investment appraisals, optioneering, cost benefit analysis, economic modelling and data analysis, good command of MS Excel.

- Excellent report writing and oral communication skills are essential, as are well developed stakeholder management and time management skills, and a track record of delivery against challenging deadlines. Strong attention to detail would be required as well as ability to work under limited supervision.

- You will be educated to a degree level in electrical engineering (highly desirable) or another related STEM subject and have good understanding of the types of assets involved in power transmission/generation.

- It is highly desirable (but not essential) you will hold an Institute of Asset Management Certificate or Diploma qualification or have qualification in an equivalent field (e.g. CEng, PMQ, PPQ, PMP).
