ASSET TECHNICIAN

Purpose

Delivers support services to support internal and external customers specifically the Asset Management Team, in one or more area using skills and knowledge which may be unique to specific business processes.

Key Outcomes/Accountabilities

  • Coordinate a complex area of Asset Management support work, taking ownership and responsibility for the end to end processes e.g. planning and overseeing the asset survey programme and responsibility for day to day operational issues.
  • Collate, validate, cleanse and upload data and documents from various sources into the Asset Management database.
  • Provide project management support to the Asset Management Team.
  • Actively promote the councils values: Dedicated, Respect, Ownership, Curious, Collaborative.
  • Make real time service decisions in response to operational issues in line with local procedures and established guidance.
  • Respond to enquiries from internal and external customers and stakeholders including escalated issues, taking responsibility for satisfactory resolution.
  • Provide information, data and advice on complex Asset Management support matters and carry out, monitor and reconcile financial transactions.
  • Monitor service compliance with local guidance and legislation.
  • Own and drive forward process improvements.
  • The provision of Asset Management support advice which could include a specialist area.
  • May supervise, direct or provide guidance to staff including allocating and checking work.
  • To communicate effectively with colleagues, senior management, internal customers and external agencies. May involve direct contact with citizens of Bristol including escalated or emotive issues in challenging circumstances.
  • Use discretion in the deployment of resources and in the provision of service to customers with rules and guidelines.
  • Deal with escalated issues within the Asset Management support area.
  • This is an office based role that may require travel to different sites.
  • To manage own performance and to maintain a high standard in the following competency areas as outlined in 'My Performance': Teamwork, Customer Service, Delivery, Change, Interpersonal Skills, Planning and Organising, Problem Solving and Decision Making, ICT Skills, Administrative, Project Management, Analytical.
